I’M DOING EVERYTHING RIGHT…WHY AM I NOT SEEING A CHANGE?
Aug 25, 2021I often hear this question from clients and I have been down that road myself.
Do you feel like you are eating right and exercising but not getting the results you desire?
Or perhaps your weight loss has plateaued and all you work seems like it’s for nothing?
This may not be what you want to hear but I would say the #1 reason that people do not see their desired results is lack of patience and consistency.
The small, positive habits that you make on a daily basis compound over time.
It is hard to appreciate this in daily life because these habits seem inconsequential at the moment but I guarantee you will be meaningful in the long run.
Oftentimes, the work we put in day after day seems to make no difference until we cross a critical threshold which the author James Clear call the Plateau of Latent Potential and then BAM the change becomes noticeable.
I love his analogy of an ice cube.
He describes an ice cube sitting on a table in a cold room that is 25 degrees. Slowly the room starts to heat up…twenty six, twenty seven, twenty eight, …thirty one. Nothing. Then right at thirty two degrees the ice begins to melt. A one degree shift which before seemed to change nothing has now unlocked a huge change.
I deal a lot with this in my workouts…I work out, I work out and it is oftentimes hard to see a difference. In fact, it is super frustrating at times and this is where it would be easy to give up and let my good workout ethic slide.
But as my coach once told me “It is just about getting the work in.”
Now, having said that if you are being super honest about your work (in both the kitchen and gym) and have given it time and are still not seeing results, then, more than likely something else needs to change or be evaluated.
